Service ProjectS

Service projects are no to low cost options to get involved–as an individual or a group. You complete the project on your own time in your own way, allowing endless options of how these could be executed. These projects take only a small amount of time and effort, but have a big impact on our U.S. military heroes. Service projects generally fall into the categories of box decorating, letter writing, supply drive or postage fundraiser; however if you have another idea, we'd love to here it!

BOX DECORATING | Help make a little art go a long way

A great service project for school art classes, scout groups, employee organizations and more is to decorate boxes that will be packed with goodies and headed to heroes overseas! Decorating care packages with uplifting pictures and messages that a deployed service person will see when they receive their Packages From Home is another way to help them feel remembered and cared for. In order to get this project started, you first decide how many boxes you'd like to decorate and then order them online. The Priority Box 1097 is the only box we use and will accept. You need to order the boxes directly from USPS online here. The boxes are free of charge and USPS will mail them directly to you. Please note: USPS does not stock this box in their post offices.  Be sure to order the boxes 7-10 days before you need them to ensure they arrive before your event.  Once complete, simply contact us to let us know your boxes are coming, deliver/ship them to us and we'll take care of the rest. Please be sure to review our Letter Writing & Box Decorating Guidelines (downloadable PDF below) prior to beginning your project.

Letter Writing

We include letters in each care package sent overseas because they show our troops how much we love and care for them.  Troops frequently write back to us with appreciation for letters and artwork from adults and kids of all ages.  If you'd like to write thank you letters to our servicemembers, please deliver/send your letters to us and we will be happy to include them in our care packages.  Please note that we proofread all letters. Be sure to review our Letter Writing & Box Decorating Guidelines (downloadable PDF below) prior to beginning your project.

Supply Drive

The sky's the limit in terms of how creative and fun your donation drive can be!  Many people find it easy to help us raise needed supplies by simply asking their friends and family or leveraging their social network. Others will solicit local grocery stores, retailers, or other sponsors to collect needed items.  Feel free to use and share our Wish List, which also contains canine supplies for our popular Bones From Home program benefitting miltary working dogs and veteran service animals. When your donation drive is complete, simply contact us to let us know when to expect your donation. Deliver/send the supplies to us, and we'll take care of the rest.

POSTAGE Fundraiser

Our most needed items are always postage funds to ship our care packages overseas. Start a simple online fundraiser to benefit Packages From Home, as an individual or a team.
