| Glendale family night Packages From Home will be there so bring donations and meet us.
On Friday, June 27 the city of Glendale will be hosting Family Fun Night from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Murphy Park in downtown Glendale. The purpose of the event is to allow the Parks and Recreation Summer Program participants to showcase their summer activities and talents to family and friends. The evening also gives our Parks and Recreation Youth and Teen Division a chance to showcase the city's summer and after school programs to the public. This fun event will be free for all residents of Glendale.
Family Fun Night will include arts and crafts booths, game booths, information booths and a summer family photo booth. There will also be food vendors, inflatable games and entertainment, including dancers, singers and magicians. Family Fun night is a great opportunity for families to get out and have a lot of fun with others and also to learn about some of the great summer programs that our Parks and Recreation Department has to offer.
This year, there will be a special booth at the event to honor our troops overseas. Packages from Home is a program where comfort items are donated and sent to our troops serving in active duty around the world. Representatives from Packages from Home will be present at Family Fun Night and you are welcome to bring comfort items to donate to our troops. Cash donations are also accepted. You can get more information about the Packages from Home program and what can and cannot be donated by looking at their website at www.packagesfromhome.org. Below are some of the items that are needed most.
* Cooling neck bands (Cool Ties)
* Socks
* New T-shirts
* Disposable razors
* Band aids
* Laundry detergent (tablets- preferred)
I encourage you all to come and enjoy this wonderful opportunity that is available for Glendale's families. You can also take the opportunity to donate money or comfort items to our troops. |
